for the 13th International Conference of
Finland Futures Research Centre and Finland Futures Academy


TRENDS AND FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

9-10 June 2011, TAMPERE, FINLAND


The 13th International Conference organized by Finland Futures Research Centre and Finland Futures Academy at Turku School of Economics will deal with the indicators and dimensions of a sustainable future. It will be the final conference of SMILE-project (Synergies in Multi-scale Inter-Linkages of Eco-social systems), which has been funded by EU 7th Framework Programme. The consortium of SMILE project is formed by various research organizations focusing on the different dimensions of sustainability: Finland Futures Research Centre (coordinator), Parthenope University of Naples (Italy), Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain), Free University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), Institute for Economic Forecasting (Romania), The Macaulay Land Use Research Institute (UK) and Statistics Finland.

Deadline for abstract submission: December 31, 2010
Notification of Acceptance: January 31, 2011
Deadline for submission of full papers: May 20, 2011


REVIEW PROCESS

Papers will be reviewed by their abstracts (max. 200 words). Abstracts should contain paper title and the body of the paper, with author names, affliations and contact information. Consistent with standard practice, each submitted paper will receive a minimum of three reviews. Scientific board that will evaluate the abstracts is formed by PhD Richard Aspinall, Professor Mario Giampietro, Professor Jyrki Luukkanen, Professor Peter Nijkamp, Professor Sergio Ulgiati and PhD Jarmo Vehmas.

Final papers should be original, unpublished and not more than ten single-spaced pages with minimum font size of 12 pt. Papers should be submitted in .doc or .rtf format, and should only contain the paper title and the body of the paper, with author names and affliations. Final papers should be sent to the conference secretariat one week before the conference.

All conference papers will be published in the conference proceedings. A selection of these papers will be published as a special issue of the International Journal Progress in Industrial Ecology (PIE) following the journal’s usual review procedure. Some of the papers may also be published in Finland Futures Research Centre’s publication series. The official conference language for all papers and presentations is English.

VENUE
