Envisioning/visioning is considered to be an essential part of futures studies methodology. Though unlike
scenario building, the methods of envisioning are hardly known amongst
researchers and even experts. This evidence was the decisive factor for us that
the 2002 summer seminar was to discuss the methods of envisioning. The Vision
Week June 2002 was the fourth international seminar in succession organised by
the Finland Futures Research Centre. Apart from the two-day Vision Seminar, the
Finland Futures Research Centre, together with the Finland Futures Aca
demy,
offered a two-day Summer School in Turku dealing with the same topic.
Target people for the Vision Seminar were scientists of different faculties, futures practitioners, people from the public and private sector as well as graduate and post-graduate students.
The subsequent Vision Summer School was aimed at graduate and post-graduate students, however, anybody interested in getting deeper understanding of what is behind the methods of envisioning was welcome.
The Vision Week gathered together nearly hundred participants from Finland and other countries like Sweden, UK, USA, Italy, Germany and Spain.
